1 Enoch: the Book of Parables (Chapters 37-71)

Three parables on the coming judgment, dated by most scholars to the late first century BCE or the first century CE, later than the rest of 1 Enoch. This is the section that develops the figure called the Son of Man, the Elect One, and the Righteous One, who sits on a throne of glory to judge kings and the mighty. Notably, it is the only major section of 1 Enoch with no identified fragment among the Dead Sea Scrolls, which is central to the argument for its later date. Translation: R. H. Charles, 1917.
